Timothy (Tim ) Patrick Harrington was ordained by Bishop Philip Zimmerman for the Reformed Catholic Church on August 1, 2004. He has found our perspective on spirituality to be consistent with his, and has joined our diocese. Tim is a CPA, and runs a credit union consulting company (www.forteamresources.com) that takes him around the country on seminars and consulting jobs. Tim is a very level-headed, feet-to-the-ground person, with a dedicated spirituality that has, over the years, come to see an emptiness in overly-orchestrated and overly-institutionalized religion, and to see a consistent beauty in divinity revealed in all creation and all people. He is a seasoned person, with a ministerial gift that is very deep, rather than very widespread. He is a valued addition to the many talents and ministries of our diocese. He and his wife live in Tucson, AZ with their sons Adam (20) and Aron (16).

Matthew.Michaud@OneSpiritCatholic.org

Matthew David Michaud has been a paramedic in the Manchester, NH area for over ten years.  He was raised a Catholic, but as he grew older his curiosity led him to a knowledge and respect for other religions.  He was ordained a non-denominational minister several years ago because of his love for spirituality and his desire to share blessings with others, much of it an outgrowth of his years on the front lines of medical trauma.

Matt recently came to appreciate contemporary Catholicism and has fed his compulsion to read contemporary theology books. Since recently earning a Bachelors of Theology, Matt is now working towards his Masters of Divinity.  Currently, his primary focus is in providing wedding services and support for the dying.  It was a special joy for Bishop Jim Burch to ordain this young man in his late twenties to the Catholic priesthood in our diocese on January 18, 2006.

Timothy O'Connell
Falls Church, VA
Home: (703) 532-9431
Cell: (571) 722-3721
Timothy.OConnell@OneSpiritCatholic.org

Timothy O'Connell was ordained to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Newark NJ in 1966.  Immediately he began his journey for justice for all, first by writing a letter published in National Catholic Reporter that priests had every right to be married and/or to be women, which summarily brought a rebuke from his bishop.  After that he walked arm-in-arm with Martin Luther King, Jr. against the Vietnam War and was immediately confined by his bishop to New Jersey.

Not long thereafter, Timothy was removed by the bishop of Newark from active ministry in the institutional Church in 1968, after signing a letter (with 27 other priests who were not removed) asking Pope Paul VI to change Humanae Vitae and to leave birth control decisions to the informed consciences of the couples involved.  All that did was to catapult Timothy into greater service to aggrieved humanity.  Timothy married, and was blessed with three "deeply Human" children, now 13 to 30 years old.  He is completing the work necessary to achieve "the permanent experience of The Complete Man (always and only a gift of the Divine) for the benefit of all and the realization of Humanity One."

Timothy is a powerful teacher of "steadily shedding all constraints of dogma and ego belief while completing an internal journey across all the parameters of the Human psyche to find 'the Kingdom within.'  This is The Kingdom of which Jesus, the Christ, and all realized and enlightened Teachers and Masters speak and teach."  Timothy works as a health care facilitator in the public school system, and has an active wedding ministry.

Scott Ziegler was ordained a Catholic priest on October 26, 2008.  Scott lives in Virginia Beach with his wife Lisa and his five children.  He was a police chaplain for eight years, currently teaches high school and has a full-time wedding ministry.  Given a background and seeped activities such as these, Scott is very practical in seeing the beauty of the Christ message at "street level," feet-on-the-ground.  He speaks very clearly and to the point, and has a great way of reaching people as a genuine person they can admire.

Scott grew up in the Nazarene Church, and became active in the Missionary Alliance Church in Virginia, where he was studying for ordination and ministering as a youth minister and police chaplain. Scott says, "the judgment, guilt, and rigidity that I experienced, participated in, and to some degree perpetuated and which I came to realize caused myself and others a great deal of pain, motivated me to find a truer version of Christianity and launched my study of progressive Christianity."  Because our diocese seeks to find new ways of expression of the Good News, we applaud and welcome Scott's adherence to this basic Catholic principal and then his translating it to practical measures to reach those he serves.

Mike.Richards@OneSpiritCatholic.org

Michael (Mike) Charles Richard is currently an ordained Methodist minister and pastor of three small churches in West Virginia, and has been a pastor in the United Methodist Church for nineteen years, and is honored there for his preaching and teaching. He knows how to take scholarly observations and to make them palatable and exciting for congregations. In this, he conveys a wholesome and positive affirmation of the goodness of life.

Mike was also ordained a Catholic priest for the Catholic Diocese of One Spirit on May 12, 2009, agreeing with our diocese that there is no reason a person cannot minister in two or more spiritual areas where he/she agrees with the basic principles of each. He has a M.Div. and a D.Min, a very progressive bent that gives him a feeling of “coming alive” in his faith, and a love for Catholic liturgical practice. He was a fellow at Duquesne University in their theological program, and has an extensive background in progressive Catholicism. Mike is the father of four teenagers.

[Incognito]
Midwestern United States of America

There is another ordained Catholic priest within the Catholic Diocese of One Spirit, but he is not publicly listed because he has served, and is currently still serving, as a member of a Protestant church.  Our diocese has no problem with this kind of mixture of Protestantism and Catholicism, but feels that, at this time and because of the prejudices still existing as tensions within Christianity, it is better not to make this an issue.  When religious societies have evolved more toward the understanding of what is essential and what is not, we will be able to be more open about such ministry.

[Incognita]
United States of America

The Catholic Diocese of One Spirit is honored to be able to encourage and validate the calling to priestly ministry of women. Among the most remarkable women alive today are thousands of Roman Catholic nuns, many of whom are called to ordination. Our "incognita" priest is a prominent Roman Catholic sister. She has been ordained "in camera." Just as Rome designates cardinals "in camera" and then is justified in denying their identities because of the grave danger of persecution if such designation becomes known, so too do we ordain current Roman Catholic nuns (others are in the pipeline) "in camera" and deny identifying them. Sadly, this is because of the real danger of rejection, ejection and homelessness which would befall them from their own church if such ordination were known. God bless these brave and dedicated women!

He was a Franciscan, ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1983, and active in bi-lingual parish work in California until he left the canonical priesthood in 1993. In Memoriam

Michael K. Mitchell
formerly of Anchorage, Alaska

The late Michael K. Mitchell was a priest in Anchorage, Alaska, and ran a church without walls – a wedding ministry to the greater Anchorage area.  He died in 2007.  Michael Mitchell studied for the Methodist ministry, and was assistant to the senior minister for the First Methodist Church in Anchorage, Alaska for four years.  He also took ministerial courses under Rev. Dr. Robert H. Schuller at the Crystal Cathedral in Southern California.  Following this, Dr. Schuller asked Michael to be his minister on site as he instituted his Hour of Power services on 35 mm film and showed them in cinemas in Alaska (movie house churches).  Michael’s PhD was in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M.  After years as a “closet Catholic,” studying Catholic theology, and participating in Catholic sacraments, he was ordained a Catholic priest by Bishop Jim Burch in March 2001, and continued his extraordinary schedule of wedding ministry in the Anchorage area, complimented by his wife, Nel, until his death.
